church done differently

When we started this fellowship, our desire was to think outside of the regular church box and design our services around community, appreciation for each other, and respect for each person's God-given gifts. Our unique approach provides an atmosphere that fosters learning and spiritual growth for members of all ages. Our Spirit-led, out-of-the-box thinking has led us to design our services around teacher-led interactive services and family-integrated children's church.

The first thing you will notice about our fellowship is that we do not conform to the norm. While we emphasize the importance of our relationships with Jesus and each other, of Biblical grace-focused teaching, and of growing in the truth and knowledge of Jesus, our service is styled quite differently from a typical modern church service.

Church Done Differently
Incredible Experience

incredible new experience

We invite you to participate in the discussion as we know the value in learning from each other, asking questions, and taking time to dig into topics each Sunday. We are not in a rush to polish off a particular book. We feel it is more important to know the Word of God than to say we have read it. Each session is led by the pastor or a qualified teacher, but they do not simply offer a monologue as you observe from your chair. It is their job to provide insight and teaching as they lead and guide the discussion to keep it going and on topic. You are not required to ask questions or give input, but you are invited to do so. We only ask that you respect everyone's time and participation, and do not start monologuing yourself. â€‹

We Love Kids

Family-Integrated Children's Church

we love kids

We begin our service at 10:15 AM with our 30 minute family-integrated children's church. We, as a body of Christ, teach the children though various mediums such as reading, storytelling, acting, singing, role-playing, and art. A children's ministry leader/teacher will make all the preparations for the day so the parents, older kids, and others who wish to participate can simply jump in when needed and guided by the teacher.

After the children's learning time, we offer them a time of socializing and play as they gather together in a separate room with our professional background checked childcare workers for their safety and well being. We welcome any and all members to remain in the regular service. We love children and they are welcome to stay with their parents/guardians. We only ask that if they are being very disruptive that you take them either to our professional childcare workers or out of the service in respect for those who are in attendance. An occasional baby noise or toddler asking if they can have another cracker is not "very disruptive."

This immersive style of learning and free time for fellowship has many benefits for our children. Please read all about it below for more information.

Immersive Learning

Multi-sensory and immersive learning are valuable methods for teaching children. When children see, hear, and do, they tend to retain information better and are more interested in the material presented to them. Church should be fun and inviting for everyone. By role-playing, singing, dancing, storytelling, and many other fun ways to learn, your child will enjoy church and know that Jesus loves them and so does their church.

Value

Children understand they are valued by God, their parents, and their church members when we all dedicate our time and attention to their spiritual growth. They also see the value in the body of Christ working together toward the goal of helping them learn about and grow in Christ.

Relationship

Children build lasting relationships with others in their church body. Not only are they building relationships with those older kids and adults that participate in their ministry, but the social time they are allowed afterwards facilitates the development of lasting friendships with like-minded children. After their lesson, the children will be invited to join each other for fellowship and play while our professional childcare workers take care of them for the remainder of the service.

Parental Involvement

Parents know exactly what their children are learning on Sundays and can support those teachings at home throughout the week. Parents may also help with keeping their children attentive, which creates a better learning environment for all the children.

Often, in small fellowships, the parents are asked, or required, to teach Sunday School. We have found that not all parents are gifted to do so, nor are willing to help out in that manner as teaching Sunday School is an overwhelming proposition for some. Therefore, we have eliminated this drawback to typical Sunday School. Parents can participate in a fun and spontaneous way without the pressure of having to prepare for a children's class. This is both a win for them and a win for their children.

Wear and Serving

Attire: Please come dressed. We will too. We don't have rules. Dress up, come in shorts, or wear your favorite ugly Christmas sweater.

Serving in the Fellowship: Obviously, since we are just starting out, there are many places in which we would welcome you to serve. Please talk to Phillip or Laurel if you are interested in serving in any area of this body of Christ or to learn about our specific requirements for our teachers.

tithes & offerings

We believe God appreciates a cheerful giver (2 Cor 9:7). Giving to a church or charitable organization is a beautiful act of love. However, we do not require people to give to our ministry as you should be led by the Spirit when it comes to any offering, whether financial or otherwise. Transparency is important to us so we offer to provide members with general financial information as it is requested. We are a non-profit corporation and are able to receive tithes and offerings. However, as a newly formed church with an all-volunteer staff, currently we have very little expenses. If you would like more information, please speak to one of our ministry leaders or email us at info@mattshouse.org
